Over the last decade, I have made it my personal mission to program music by underrepresented composers, particularly music by women. In 2016, I founded Chione Quintet, an ensemble comprised of five women with a mission to perform music by women and expand the repertoire available for the instrumentation. This ensemble was the catalyst for my mission to expand the repertoire written for the oboe by women. In 2019, I began a project to commission female-identifying composers to write music about the National Parks throughout the country. This project, “Resonant Earth: Sounding the Landscape through Her Voice,” has since been my passion project with four pieces completed and premiered to date; three Minnesota and one Kansas national park site are represented. In addition to commissioning and premiering new works by women and underrepresented composers, I also regularly unearth previously written music that is unknown or performed infrequently. The following list is the vast majority of programming I have shared in the last five years. Transparency has always been a pillar of who I am as a musician and as a person. I hope the trend of sharing music by underrepresented composers continues to the point where it is no longer considered a trend.
