Dúo León is an oboe and harp duo working to create new repertoire for this ensemble while sharing music of all genres. Hannah and Susan have played as a duo for the last few years in collaboration with a interpretive dancer.

Dr. Hannah Palmquist Hite is a native of Tucson, AZ. She began her harp studies at the age of 6 with Patricia Harris of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Hannah earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music History, Theory, and Criticism from the University of Arizona in 2012. While a student there, she was a member of touring harp ensemble HarpFusion, with whom she toured Brazil and China. Hannah traveled to London in 2009 to study chamber works with faculty of the Royal College of Music at the British Isles Music Festival. Hannah earned her Master of Music in Harp Performance at the University of Minnesota in 2017 under the tutelage of Kathy Kienzle and is currently a doctoral candidate in Harp at UMN. She has been a featured soloist with UMN Symphony Orchestra, Tucson Pops Orchestra, and Civic Orchestra of Tucson. Her passions include chamber music, teaching, and premiering new works.

Susan Miranda, oboist, entrepreneur and founder of Chione Quintet and co-founder of Dúo León is a versatile performer and musician. Susan’s strengths are many, including business owner, writer, and new music pioneer. Chione Quintet has represented Classical Minnesota Public Radio through their school residency program, Classnotes. Recently, the ensemble received a Chamber Music America Residency grant, sharing educational programs throughout Northern Minnesota. Revolutionary trio, mothrmöv, composed of harp, oboe and mover, explores and embraces the relationship between music and movement. Susan is the Oboe Professor at Dordt University and Northwestern College in Northern Iowa. Her Chromatic Fusion Oboe Studio boasts students who have attended honor bands throughout MN, WI, and IA, and have been accepted into the MN All-State Bands and Orchestra. Susan is on faculty at quINTENS!VE Chamber Music Camp, Athena Music and Leadership Camp, ISD 622’s Beginning Band Camp and is in her fifth year working with MN All-State oboe students. Susan attended Interlochen Arts Academy as a high school senior, where she studied with Daniel Stolper. She holds a Bachelor of Communications and Applied Music Degree from the University of Minnesota, where she studied with Basil Reeve. Other principal instructors have included Andrea Banke, Caroline Park, and Jeffrey Paul.
